![]() I am pretty sure this would do it, but before I do, I would like to get some feedback here. Basically the same as recovering a messed up TMM database as described in the FAQ: ![]() Hence, I would assume the best is to just save the contents of /data before you run the brew command of updating TMM and afterwards restoring your backed up /data folder. So the update process of TMM via Homebrew is different than the auto-update. The code for the TMM install can be seen here: When you run "brew upgrade tinymediamanager", Homebrew is removing the current version you have installed, backs it up temporary and then fetches the new version and install the new TMM binary. Good to hear I am not the only person using Homebrew for updating TMM u/syngin1 :) The way I see it, when the built-in auto-update of TMM fetches and installs a new version, the userdata (the contents of /data from the directory I posted) remains untouched - so that the database files for movies and TV-shows remain as-is after the update. Is it safe to just re-copy the content of /data back to this folder after a clean install of TMM? Is this basically the normal "restore" process? Due to the fact that it is written in Java, tinyMediaManager will run on Windows, Linux and macOS. It is written to provide metadata for the Kodi Media Center (formerly known as XBMC), MediaPortal and Plex media server. I was just wondering if I could copy (backup) the contents from "/Applications/TMM.app/Contents/Resources/Java/data" before I do a Homebrew update of TMM and then simply copy the backed up content back into the data folder? tinyMediaManager is a media management tool written in Java/Swing. I am using Homebrew exclusively for ALL my Mac apps, so I cannot use the built-in auto-update feature of TMM as this would bring the Homebrew update mechanism out of sync. This means, that the TMM database is also removed with the Homebrew update and I would need to rescan my hundreds of movies and TV-shows from scratch again - after every update. ![]() The issue with updating TMM via Homebrew seems to be, that after an update of the app, Homebrew removes the complete TMM binary and installs the new version "clean". I am using Homebrew (Package Manager) on my Mac to keep all local applications - including TMM - up to date. ![]()
